In a star-studded event at The Star in Frisco, several prominent members of the community, including Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, spoke about the importance Frisco has played in the North Texas sports scene.

“Our partnership with Frisco fires us up,” Jones said early Monday morning.

The Corridors of Opportunity: Frisco event put on by the Dallas Business Journalwas sold out with more than 1,000 people getting a first-hand look at the Cowboys’ new practice facility at the Ford Center, which is part of The Star. Attendees sat directly on the turf with the stage in the end zone.

Joining Jones were Frisco mayor Maher Maso and founder and chairman of theHALL Group, Craig Hall. The panel afterward included several executives of local professional sports teams. Panel members included Donnie Nelson, owner of the Texas Legends; Jim Lites, president and CEO, Dallas Stars; Chuck Greenberg, CEO, Frisco RoughRiders; Stephen Jones, COO, Dallas Cowboys; Dr. Jeremy Lyon, superintendent, Frisco ISD; George Purefoy, city of Frisco; and Dan Hunt, president, FC Dallas.

“He would be proud to see where Frisco is today,” Hunt said about his fatherLamar Hunt, who was one of the first big names to invest in Major League Soccer.

All of North Texas’ ‘Big Four’ sports organizations now have some sort of presence in Frisco with the opening of the Cowboys’ world headquarters. FC Dallas, which currently has the best record in the MLS, moved to Frisco more than a decade ago. The Star is not only prominent in the world of sports business, but also part of the famed $5 Billion Mile the city has been touting.

“This is more than just a practice facility,” Stephen Jones said.
